Most areas in the central part of Florida are within an hour’s drive of either coast, and the real estate is usually pretty affordable. The Villages of Citrus HillsHernando, FL

High $100s – High $700s

As soon as construction is complete, there will be 10,000 single-family homes for residents of all ages in the various neighborhoods that make up The Villages of Citrus Hills. New construction and resale homes are available in a variety of sizes and floor plans, ranging from 1,666 to 3,952 square feet with two to three bedrooms, two to four bathrooms, and attached two-car garages. Options include extra garage space and dens. Properties in the Care-Free Collection include exterior maintenance.

There’s a central clubhouse with a media center, a community theater, a pool, and courts for bocce, pickleball, and basketball. Individual neighborhoods have their own clubhouses as well. The Brentwood Clubhouse includes a nine-hole golf course and a fitness center. The Skyview Clubhouse has an 18-hole course as well as a restaurant and lounge.

VillageWalk at Lake NonaOrlando, FL

Mid $200s – Mid $500s

Part of the larger Lake Nona master-planned community, VillageWalk at Lake Nona is a gated community built by Pulte Homes with 1,300 resale single-family and attached homes. The villas are duplex models with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a den, and an attached two-car garage. Floor plans offer 1,526 or 1,542 square feet.

There’s also a townhome model that offers 1,835 square feet, two bedrooms, a den, and two or three bathrooms. The single-family homes are available in more than a dozen floor plans with 1,684 to 4,5107 square feet, three to seven bedrooms, two to four-and-a-half bathrooms, and attached two- or three-car garages.

Amenities at VillageWalk at Lake Nona are pretty exceptional. There’s a gas station within the community as well as a spa. Residents can also enjoy the fitness center, deli and market, pool, and business center.

Carillon LakesLakeland, FL

High $100s – Low $300s

Lakeland is within an hour of both Tampa and Orlando, making it a desirable place to live and a growing community for arts and culture. Active adults looking for Lakeland homes for sale might want to consider Carillon Lakes, an affordable community for all ages with 650 single-family and attached homes.

Harbor Hills Country ClubLady Lake, FL

Low $200s – Mid $300s

Country club living doesn’t have to be pricey. At Harbor Hills Country Club in Lady Lake, buyers can find new and resale single-family homes on a golf course surrounded by resort-style amenities. In addition to the 18-hole championship golf course, there are tennis courts, a pool, a racquetball court, and a restaurant. Models begin at 1,997 square feet and get as large as 3,806 square feet. Homes have between two and four bedrooms, two to three-and-a-half bathrooms, and attached two- or three-car garages. Many models have dens, huge master suites, and private pools. Buyers with golf carts can choose a home with extra garage parking.

Lakeside LandingsOxford, FL

Below $100k – High $300s

New and resale homes are available at Lakeside Landings, a community without age restrictions in Oxford. Residents can enjoy access to a private beach on Lake Miona as well as a fishing pier. There’s also a putting green, an exercise room, and a resort-style pool with a cabana bar. Tennis courts, walking trails, and a clubhouse that includes a ballroom, a billiards room, and a library are also available. Residents get together for fishing and swimming, and there are exercise classes and book clubs to keep people active and social.

The selection of homes is diverse. There are condos offering 1,349 to 1,402 square feet, two bedrooms, and two bathrooms. Attached villas have 1,559 to 1,757 square feet, two or three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and attached two-car garages. There’s also the Elite Series and the Preferred Series, which are collections of single-family homes with two to four bedrooms and two or three bathrooms. These floor plans come with dens, extra half-bathrooms, and attached two-car garages. Oxford is close to Interstate 75, making it easy for residents to travel north and south throughout the state.
